8/26 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center. 10am-1PM. sunny, high
tide-receding, 75F.
2 Bald eagles as I drove in on Milford Point Rd.
On the marsh: 3 juvenile Yellow crowned night herons flying over, 2 Ring
billed gulls, 1 D.C. Cormorant and 5 Ospreys. On our nest platform, one
juvenile fledgling was calling all morning. She took a brief flight around
the marsh and then returned to the nest platform, continuing to call
(presumably she doesn't know how to fish yet and is calling for food). The
male was sitting beneath the nest on the solar panel eating a fish later in
the morning, but did not give any to the youngster who was calling. Kind of
sad to watch and listen.
On the grounds & feeders: 2 Mourning doves, 1 Goldfinch, 1 Fish Crow
calling, 4 House sparrows.
Inside the building we had many visitors enjoying the views and the
wildlife we have inside.
