22. Many expressing excitement for the coming regular season.
Weather:
Chilly late August arrival to the observatory. There was a brisk wind and
temperatures were in the mid 50�s F. Wind out of the west changed to NW
after 2 DST and then WNW by the end of day.
Raptor Observations:
6 raptors today including the first Osprey of the season and the first
Northern Harrier. All birds gave a nice close unaided eye pass except the
Northern Harrier. As typical of a hawk watch, I scanned a kettle of Common
Ravens and found a juvenile Northern Harrier amongst them.
Non-raptor Observations:
One local Bald Eagle and three Red-tailed hawks. Blue-headed Vireo and
Black-and-white Warbler
RTHU 0 today/ 4 season.
Butterflies: American White Admiral and Red-spotted purple
Predictions:
Winds from the NW through 3 DST. Looks like the best day of the next three.
