Visitors: Being at the north lookout, I only encountered 6 visitors and interacted with 2.
Weather: Sunny to partly cloudy, 68-76 degrees F. Consistent west breeze throughout the day with gusts up to 13.
Raptor Observations: Bald Eagle (2): 0947a, 1410a
Almost all raptors were closely hugging the north side of the ridge, flying relatively low. First red-shouldered of the season, and it was a beautiful close adult!
Non-raptor Observations: Lots of swallow movement throughout the day, also on the north side of the ridge, with the best being a pair of BANK SWALLOWS! Plus tree, barn, and purple martin. 3 hummingbirds, wood thrush, ovenbird, YB cuckoo, and black-throated green warbler as well.
Some fun insects today. Eastern pondhawk dragonfly, snowberry clearwing moth, gray hairstreak butterfly, and a couple species of hoverfly.
Predictions: Isolated showers after 3pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 78. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
