It is good to be home again! Although the repair work on the dam
continues, they have completed the work in the area near/around where our
banding station has been (except for the past 2 years), and we have been
able to put most of our nets in approximately the same locations as in the
past.

We had a busy early morning, catching 44 birds of 14 species, including 4
flycatcher species and 5 warblers. Most of the birds were caught before
the heat kicked in about half way through the morning and we started
closing nets. Lots of interesting stuff for our first day of fall banding,
2026:

Downy Woodpecker 3
Western Wood-pewee 2
Traill's Flycatcher (probably Willow) 1
Least Flycatcher 1
Western Flycatcher 1
Black-capped Chickadee 6 (a flock, 5 in the same net)
Red-breasted Nuthatch 1
Northern House Wren 6
Orange-crowned Warbler 1
Virginia's Warbler 1
Yellow Warbler 9 new, 1 banded this date in 2023 as an adult
Common Yellowthroat 2
Wilson's Warbler 4
Song Sparrow 5

Thanks to the visitors who joined us for our first day back at our old
location! There are still some spaces available for tomorrow morning (8
and 9 a.m. slots are likely to be the best, as the heat is expected to
continue), and Tues through Thurs next week at 7:30. Reservations are
needed; here
